Hello and welcome to Bibliocinemina, a weekly newsletter exploring my latest book reads and movie watches! I’m so glad you’re here.

The newsletter title combines biblio (relating to books), cine (relating to motion pictures), and mina (my name and, when combined with cine, a play on the word cinema). As mentioned in this post’s subtitle, Bibliocinemina is 50% books, 50% movies, and 100% Mina.

I know what you’re thinking. “Alright, I like books and movies too, but who the f*ck is Mina and what does ‘100% Mina’ even mean?” Both excellent questions, to which I respond, “Don’t worry about it! Just keep reading, and you’ll find out.”

A few notes about my style: I love reading, writing, and watching movies. I’m not a snob about any of these things — some of my comfort movies are critically panned (#Twilight4Ever😤) — and I’ll devour anything from tech bro authored self-help books to children’s fantasy novels. I try to go to the physical cinema at least once a month to keep the movie magic alive, but I’m just as happy to spread out on my grandma’s couch with our big boi of a German Shepherd (pictured below) and throw on something from a streaming service. While I’m trying to reclaim my attention span from the algorithmically driven apps I’ve been using since adolescence, I’m as likely to throw on an audiobook while cleaning or driving as I am to sit down and soak in words from a page.

To be frank, I don’t know how long this newsletter will run. I’ve started and abandoned a couple (or four🫠) newsletters before, but I’m committed to posting weekly for at least twelve weeks, starting on February 3, 2026, to see if this is something that brings me joy and deepens my enjoyment of film and literature. After all, writing is one of the most powerful tools we have to understand a subject, and I’m nothing if not a hypercurious1, avid learner. Rest assured, Bibliocinemina is 100% Mina-made — no generative AI involved, despite my love for the contentious em dash.

I’m excited to put my thoughts into words and share the magic of books and movies with you, wherever you may be. I really am glad you’re here.

Yours in stories,

Mina
